Like all fluorescent lamps, output is not even along the entire glass tube, it is highest in the center of the bulb. When using F71 lamps for curing finishes on larger items, you should stagger toward the center, but make sure the ends of the lamps extend at least 6 inches beyond the ends of the item you are finishing. This is the only way to make sure the ends of the item will receive enough UV to cure properly. In this image, the UV is strongest in the center because of the overlapping lamp ends, and gets weaker as you work toward the ends, however, the ends will still receive enough UV to allow curing.

If your application requires PERFECTLY EVEN UV (this would be very rare), then you would need a UV meter and to block off parts of the lamps in the overlapping areas using an opaque material, such as aluminum foil or paint.
